The October 2023 Portland Section meeting will be an online webinar among Puget Sound, Oregon, and Portland Sections. The Section will pay for food and drink for Watch Parties to attend this virtual event up to $15 per person. We hope this will facilitate undergraduate and graduate student participation in the 4pm session, but any Section member can organize one!
The Portland Section ACS invites you to attend a special symposium and dinner in honor of the late Thomas Dunne (1930 - 2020), dedicated professor (Reed College1963 - 1995), ACS member, and tireless supporter of the Portland Section, Saturday 23 September: symposium 3 - 5 PM in Vollum Lecture Hall on the Reed Campus (free and open to the public), followed by a reception and dinner (reservations required for dinner, please register by September 10th). Lewis & Clark College will host Geraldine (Geri) Richmond in a public lecture ("The Urgent Need for Science and Innovation to Save this Warming Planet") on Monday, September 18. The talk will be at 7 pm in the Fowler Student Center, Council Chamber. Dr. Richmond is the Under Secretary for Science and Innovation at the US Department of Energy. In lieu of a formal dinner meeting in May, Lacamas Laboratories in Portland has graciously offered a tour of their facilities!
